about us

Our Philosophy.

At Kids’ Environment, we endeavour to provide a holistic environment which fosters positive learning outcomes for children’s learning and development. We believe that respectful and responsive relationships between infants, toddlers, young children and adults, set them on a pathway for life-long learning. Our practice is influenced by the philosophies of Emmi Pikler and Magda Gerber, where we respect children’s natural development in a harmonious nurturing environment.

At Kids’ Environment, we acknowledge the importance of community through our partnerships with our parents and whānau. We foster the principle of Whanaungatanga to ensure that the children and their whānau feel a sense of connectedness with our centre and their homes.

We acknowledge the natural environment as the third teacher to provide opportunities for children to investigate, explore and experiment through play. We promote a culture of environmental sustainability within our curriculum and value our relationship with the Ministry for the Environment as our tūrangawaewae.

Kids’ Environment is committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a living document of Aotearoa and the respect of New Zealand bi-cultural heritage. The children will experience the use of Te Reo Maori and developing a good understanding of Te Ao Maori in our programme. We value our centre whānau and respect the different cultures and identities it represents through a shared understanding of cultural diversity.

Te Whāriki is the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum and we follow its guidance and information to provide the appropriate meaning to our practices and service while we care, educate and prepare our tamariki to become strong, competent and valued individuals of society.
